A permanent solution for those requiring a temporary space, this design for the renovation of a post-war single dwelling in the residential borough of Carlington in Ottawa, Canada, allows users to integrate peacefully and privately without isolation from the surrounding locale.

Floor Plans

Intended to welcome those transitioning into Canadian residency, this house can accommodate various combinations of users, while offering a fully accessible main level. Through the integration of key universal and accessible design aspects on all floors, the space can be retrofitted for with minimal effort should the need arise.

IDeation

Preliminary sketches of both the
barrier-free bath and kitchen allowed for effective communication with the client to represent design intentions, understanding of building code and accessibility requirements, as well as initial material and finish selections.
